Preferred Pronouns: He/Him/His
I am a licensed social worker specializing in individual and group counseling. I earned a Master of Social Work degree at Georgia State University. I have worked with individuals of various backgrounds and identities. I worked at AID Atlanta as an HIV prevention coordinator engaging Black communities. At Positive Impact, I helped coordinate the Cultural Diversity Institute and various workshops for service providers. I also facilitated support groups at Positive Impact. At Campbell Stone Apartments (an assisted living facility), I supported elders’ ability to manage their own lives. I provided individual and group counseling for participants facing DUI charges and probation at the Fulton County Recovery court program.
I have presented at several public health conferences such as United States Conference on HV/AIDS (USCHA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) National HIV Prevention Conference. I am a contributing writer published in the anthologies Cultural Silence and Wounded Souls: Black Men Speak About Mental Health, For Colored Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Still Not Enough, and Black Gay Genius: Answering Joseph Beam’s Call As a community organizer I co-chaired Second Sunday, a Black gay men’s advocacy organization and co-founded the Bayard Rustin/Audre Lorde Breakfast, an educational event that honors social justice organizing.
Throughout my career I have served a diverse range of people including young gay men, LGBTQIA people, Black men and women, elders, non-binary individuals, individuals in addiction/recovery, and people living with HIV/AIDS. Working with these groups has brought me key life lessons. It is just as important to see the person as an individual as it is to consider their identity, community and other aspects that shape their lives. I have learned so much from my clients for which I am deeply grateful.
